The Life of an Importer/Exporter: February 2008

People have been asking, and like Pearl Jam in a big rock show, I will not disappoint.

Here are some pictures of the new place. The one room that is green (living room) still needs to be painted and will probably be done this weekend (knock on wood). The sunroom doesn't have heat (yet), but I am looking at getting some furniture for that room in the near future. Only question is, do I get a TV to go in there? If I do, I don't see myself being in the family room that often. Discuss.

Also, I have a spot in the family room that is completely wide open and kind of apart from the area where the TV sits. What to do with that space? I am thinking of getting big poker table and place it against the wall. Any other ideas?

I was scheduled to have it hooked up on Wednesday, but that was the day we received about 6 inches of snow so I cancelled the appointment and toughed out another two days without tv.<br />I did rent American Gangster which was pretty good. I was expecting a little bit more, but oh well. <br /><br />I will have pictures up soon as I get everything kind of set. The only problem I really have is trying to decide what I am going to do with a space of about 8x8 where it is wide open. The downstairs family room left a lot of space for me to fill. I know the previous owner had the area as a play area for their kids. I don't have kids and the nephews and niece do not come up enough for me to fill it will kid toys. I was leaning towards maybe a wood bench with storage inside it. Anyone else have ideas? I will get a picture of the space and have it posted somewhere on the internet for everyone's ideas to flow.<br /><br />I did hang my Metallica Garage Inc subway poster in the garage today. So far, the office is finished. All the boxes are unpacked except for clothes but I need to get some shelving for the closet so I can finish that.<br />The family room is done except for the empty space.<br />The living room needs to be painted. The kitchen needs some touch up paint. And the two bathrooms need to be painted and I need to put up some extra towel racks. Overall, everything is coming along pretty well while not taking a day off of work.<br />And beginning Monday and continuing for the next two weeks, I will be once again working second shift so my sleep schedule will be once again changed. It should be interesting trying to stay awake until midnight when I am usually getting up around 2:45 in the morning. Not put away, but away so I can get some cleaning and painting done.<br /><br />The one thing I do not understand is the previous owners choice of leaving things on the wall and painting around them. They left voids in many of the rooms they painted which I will now have to redo.<br /><br />We finished the three bedrooms upstairs today. They look real nice. I will go over tomorrow after work and check to see if we missed any spots in my the master bedroom. We filled all the hole marks in the other rooms preparing to paint them. <br /><br />Tomorrow I will be getting some more paint for the family room. I will probably need two gallons because they have not painted that room before and the master was the same. We went through a full gallon of paint in the master while using only one gallon in the two other bedrooms combined. <br /><br />I am now tired and am just going to relax the rest of the night. I cannot wait until I get all my furniture over here, but I have a lot of painting to get done in the next five days before this coming Saturday. If I feel the way I feel now on Sunday, I doubt I will be playing poker and just relax, hangout with Dave and Jamie, and play with Neil and Sammy. I could imagine Neil yelling out "Did you see that?!?!" after the catch made by Giants' receiver. <br />Now, I didn't say anything like that after any of the commericals. They were probably the worse ones I have seen since I can remember.<br />I have closing in 3 days which is exciting. I think it will be more exciting when they hand the keys to me. I have a final walk through on Wednesday to make sure the house has not been destroyed since the house inspection. Paint has been bought. Clothes have been rummaged through and Amvets picked up 7 trash bags this morning. <br /><br />I almost have everything packed. All I have left to pack up is one drawer of my desk and my file cabinet. <br /><br />I also think I will be trying to pay attention to my diet now. With my work schedule being changed (which feels like is happening weekly), my eating habits suffer. I will be trying to work out more than I have in the past few months. I also want to learn to play guitar. But, that will wait until after I get moved into the new house and settled in a bit.<br /><br />Thats it for now. <br /><br />Dave and Jamie, I heard that you will be available to help move my stuff over to the new house next Saturday. When will you be coming over on that day? How much can Neil lift?
